Fixed, global fixed-gear bike culture – book

Friday, November 6th, 2009

One of the many friends of Panik, dropped us a heads-up to this book being out. For all you fixed gear nuts out there, this looks like a book which covers the craze from several angles; the history, use from the track to the modern design and style trends we see on our roads today. There’s also loads of pictures of HOT fixies to perve at/over! Check out a preview of the book at the site.

Graduating with a masters from the London College of Printing, London in 2000 Julie Cook has exhibited in London, Liverpool, Bath and Hereford and has been published in magazines including Modern Painters, Independent on Sunday, Sunday Times, Blueprint and Contemporary Visual Arts. Julie Cook has taught at the Bauhaus Weimar, Berlin Technical University, South Bank University, London and was part of the ICA symposium on ErotICA in 2004. Julie Cook is currently working as a Senior Lecturer in Photography at University of East London.

Some Las Vegas Strip Clubs is the culmination of over five years work for Julie.  It explores not only the obvious in terms of the titles but also explores the interesting aspects of architecture and sensuality in the adult entertainment industry.  Julie’s unique style of photography using her favourite medium format provides a strong visual narrative to the spaces that she photographs.
